Backseat Boys
The beginning.....
In 1992 the singer Ivan Pedersen started the westcoast rock band Backseatboys. Together with Soren Jacobsen (guitars), Helge Solberg (bass), Esben Just (piano/organ) & Carsten Millner (drums) they released their first album at the label Kick Music. The band was well accepted and got very fast a commercial succes in Denmark. Ivan was already wellknowed, but mostly as a popsinger were he had got a lot of grammy awards.
The second album "Long Distance" came in 1994 and the band was added with guitarist Lars Krarup to give the livesetup more westcoast feeling.
Backseatboys was well establish as a liveband in Denmark and they played many gigs around, and their albums did get fine credits. In 1995 they decided to leave the "boys" name behind and change their name to Backseat. At the same time there were some changes in the band. They added Otto Sidenius on organ and Claes Anthonsen on drums. Soren Jacobsen, Esben Just and Carsten Millner stopped in the band.
In 1996 they changed recordlabel to the bigger CMC Records and released their 4th album "Songs". They band did also change again on some places. The drummer Claus Anthonsen was busy with Thomas Helmig and Otto Sidenius also stopped. Two new members were added Lars "Mitch" Fischermann on drums and Olle Nyberg on keyboards.
4 days in july 1998 was the recordingsession to the album "Shut Up And Play". This album is coversongs with the favourite songs from the Backseat bandmembers, a great album with materials of Bob Seger, John Haitt, Sheryl Crow, Jimmy Hendrix etc.
In 1999 the band splitted up and Ivan Pedersen were starting his solocareer and all the other musicians are still very active around in different bands and studiosessions.
After a 7 year break Backseat reformed and started touring again and late 2007 they released the album "Globalization".
