Adrian Gurvitz

From UK to US.....

Adrian Gurvitz, born in London, England, started playing guitar at the age of eight and studied at The Royal Academy of Music.

At sixteen, Adrian formed his first band, The Gun, which earned instant success, with a song called, "Race with the Devil". The Gun went high in the charts and earned international fame.

They went on to record two additional albums for CBS and "Race with the Devil" became widely regarded as the "ancestor" to the entire Heavy Metal genre.

Influential to the first wave of British hard rock, Adrian’s songs and melodies made people sit up and take notice.  His ability to shape dramatic, high caliber hard rock elevated him to a level of "cult star" in the British underground circuits.

After the death of Jimmy Hendrix, Buddy Miles invited Adrian to play in the Buddy Miles Express. For two years, he wrote songs for the band and while touring in the US.  Returning to England, he formed a new band, Three Man Army, who signed with Reprise records after Mo Austin hear them. The band toured the US along side The Doobie Brothers and The Beach Boys.

Adrian gained notoriety as a true guitar wizard, known for his intricate, hard-driving solos.  Chris Welch, of Melody Maker Magazine, felt that Adrian was better than many of the more publicized contemporary guitarists and placed him as the "9th Best Guitarist in the World" in his publication.

During the mid ‘70s, Adrian was asked by Graeme Edge, of the Moody Blues, to write and produce two albums for his new band the Graeme Edge Band. Not only did Adrian become the lead singer and song writer for the band, but both records they produced charted in the states.

In 1974, Adrian formed the band, The Baker Gurvitz Army with Ginger Baker. They signed with Atlantic Records and went on to produce three Gold Albums together.

In 1978, Adrian finally went solo and recorded two albums with Jet Records.  This produced several No. 1 hits; "Classic," one of the most played ballads in England 1982; "England we’ll Fly the Flag," for England’s World Cup football team in 1984; and "The Love in Your Eyes" written for Eddy Money in 1988.

In 1989, Warner Chappell Music signed Adrian as a staff writer. Under contract, Adrian wrote the hit song, "Even if My Heart Would Break" recorded by Aaron Nevil & Kenny G.  The song appeared in the movie and soundtrack of "The Bodyguard".  Kenny G. also included the song on his Platinum album "Breathless".

In 1996, Adrian did an acoustic guitar record that won wide acclaim. Jonathan Widran, of All Music Guide, referred to him as "a skilled player and talented composer".

In 2002, Adrian, along with Jive records, formed an all girl band called No Secrets. The band brought him another No. 1 hit for the Billboard charts.  From 2002-2005, Adrian also produced four gold records for Walt Disney Records.

Adrian has written and produced with many artists:Thompson, Frannie Goldie, Charley Midnight, Lauren Christie, and Gerry Goffin.

In 2007, Adrian transitioned into composing for television and movies.  He has just completed scoring the documentary "Joned Beach" directed by Ron Colby.
