Ambrosia's debut album is the closest thing to perfection in rock. I first heard this album after Ambrosia had a couple of big hits with a couple of highly forgetable songs. At the time, I could not believe this was the same band. In my opinion, the writing, performance and production values on this work are as close to perfect as I have ever heard on a rock album. As a non religous person, it has always surprised me that I am so attached to an album with such religious overtones (make us all aware being the most obvious). After all, Ambrosia means "food of the gods," does it not? But, every once in a while, one discovers a work, be it film, music, book, etc. that just simply "works." A piece that seems to have been made at a magic time when everything just clicked and something special came about. This is such a work. I would not change a thing. I am so thankful it finally came out on CD. My tired, worn LP can now get a well deserved rest. I simply cannot wait for it to arrive. If you like rock with a thoughtful, classic touch (a la Procol Harum) do not, I repeat, DO NOT miss this masterpiece. You will not be disappointed. Thanks to Ambrosia for more than thirty years of enjoyment. If you never played another note, this work would outpace the efforts of most other artists and exists at a level to which they can only hope to aspire.

Hi! I love your site! I've been listening 7 supporting this kind of music for years! I love Chicago,Paul Davis,Eric Carmen,Brooklyn Dreams,Jay Gruska,Gino Vannelli & Shaun Cassidy. I am a singer/songwriter/local recording artist in this genre and I could use some help to market this stuff. Any help out there would be greatly appreciated! I have a cd/video I would be happy to send to anyone who would take a serious interest in helping me and my band. I am trying to geta record deal and it's been a rough road with the companies catering to the youth obsessed culture that likes hiphop/rap,nu-metal/rap-core and fake punk/power-pop instead of the real power-pop/punk which I do happen to like. When are these stupid labels going to wake up. It's a virtual musical wasteland/toxic dump site in the U.S. in regards to Pop culture and music in the mainstraem. Any help would be greatly appreciated and a possible buisness situation could possibly be negotiated with yhe right person with the proper credentials. Paul Sabu (the legendary hard rock guitarist, singer, and producer) has joined forces with Steve Brownlee (veteran Los Angeles based A&R/promoter, who has worked with bands such as Joshua, Silent Rage, Motley Crue, Great White, and Ratt, among others), to form a new independent label, Planet Enigma, to release special projects worldwide. The entity will specialize in classic hard rock, melodic AOR, and progressive rock acts, as well as collectible sound recordings by several established artists. The first release to be issued by the label is Shania Twain (featuring Paul Sabu) Among My Souvenirs. This is a collection of songs co-written and performed by Paul and Shania during the infamous Deerhurst Sessions back in 1998-1991. Unofficial, un-produced copies have seen the light of day before now……but this is the first OFFICIAL issue of these recordings, painstakingly remixed this year by Paul Sabu and mastered by Arnie Acosta (U2, Pink Floyd, Bonnie Raitt). The CD will be available in August 2003 with a DVD version due out sometime before Christmas. Although famous for her blend of pop and country, Shania Twain proves she’s a rocker at heart with the release of Among My Souvenirs. Hi guys, now in stock: 2 real masterpieces: "New" releases with Michael Ruff Band: 1) The "Michael Ruff Band"-CD from 1992 - the album originally with the brown cover which includes the track "Come Together": Now re-released in a limited Edition (1000 copies) with a Wiking ship on the cover. 2) Another release with the Michael Ruff Band, but this one have never ever been released officialy before: A Live Recording called "Live At My Place", featuring Nils Landgren, Per Lindvall, Henrik Janson, Lars Danmark Danielsson, Leslie Smith and more! (The cover says that it´s recorded in 1990, but they´re not 100% sure - I think myself that it´s more like it´s from 1992/1993 - In other words: Between the "Michael Ruff Band" and "Speaking In Melodies"!) Hi! It's such a shame that we can't find this incredible music only because the "majors" are just interested in comercial music. Try to compare the "R & B" of this age with the originals or just make a comparison among the acclaimed "Anastacia" and Miss Chaka Khan. Most of people haven't heard about Chaka Khan, maybe it could make a joke about her name like "Isn't she that strange gansta'rappa'?"
I'm sure about record companies are fucking us with the excuse of "we are sellers, Narada Michael Walden is not a major seller" and affirming that "customer are the boss". It's just a lie: Sony, Warner, Virgin, among others, just sells us what they considers as a "major hit", something which it's, probably, stupid or music for underminding people. But, if Narada Michael Walden produces the fisrt three LP's of Whitney Houston, multiplatinum sales, therefore yes, Walden is just one of us... but we'll never sell their music because it's not comercial!

Henry Paul Band & Outlaws albums on CD. As a big time Outlaws and Henry Paul Band fan, I've had all four Henry Paul Band albums and the Outlaws non-CD released albums transferred to CD from either previously sealed or near mint albums. Glad to help out others. It's a shame that Atlantic Records has never made the Henry Paul Band albums available on CD. Lost treasures! There was word that Rhino Handmade was going to release a compilation Henry Paul Band album last year, but sources have already confirmed that this will probably not happen. Also, Buddha Records has confirmed that there will be no more Outlaws reissues, and they have stopped printing of the first three releases, so if you want them, you better act fast! Another shame as "Playin' To Win", "In The Eye Of The Storm" and "Los Hombres Malo" should have been given the same treatment as the first three, along with a reisse of "Ghost Riders" and "Soldiers of Fortune". Dear friends, I'm glad I came across this excellent page! I am a great west-coast lover from Romania and I have quite a beautiful collection of CD's. Naturally there are a few titles I can only read about but I cannot find. If you have CD's like: James Newton-Howard & Friends, Night (Chris Thompson's band - the "Long Distance" album)or the hundreds of rarities that Jeff Porcaro drums on, I would be delighted to know about!!! I confess I don't have tons of money, but, who knows, maybe we can work out something. Concerning the rarities, I'm interested in copies, too, but with complete bootlegs...Here are some interesting titles I have: Graham Goble - Stop, Jimi Jamison - Empires, Toto - Live In Paris(AUDIO VERSION), Shadow King (with Lou Gramm), Jay Graydon - Airplay For The Planet etc. Thanks for your interest. "Blue Desert" is a breath of fresh air for me,being inundated by the "Brown Desert" that calls itself contemporary 'pop' today.Kudos on your Steely Dan "bio-opsis",by the way.It was packed with stuff I never knew about my favorite band without being too busy-real economical style.By the way,"Lost In The Hurrah" is one of those rare ones that really endure.It's like uplifting Dan without the cynicism.Findley's solo(especially the fade out section)seems to render itself into eternity-there is something almost transcendent about it.Anyhow,I see why you chose the name.Sincerely, Tony Onstad Vancouver,B.C.

I have an ongoing project to write about Nick DeCaro for Japanese readers. He was quite well known there at the time of his death in 1992, although hardly at all in his home country of the US. Not long ago I published an overview of his career for the Japanese publication "Record Collectors'". The English translation of that article can be found at communities.msn.com/nickdecaro. Hi, I appreciated your article on Eye to Eye. One correction is in order though. Eye to Eye was not "Basia-vein." Basia was no where to be heard even when Shakespeare came out. In fact, I maintain that Basia was Eye to Eye-inspired to some degree, at least in her first album.
