Kenny´s career began almost as soon as he left his hometown of Everett, Washington. As a staff writer earning $100 per week, Kenny met Jim Messina, who was impressed with several tunes Kenny wrote for the Nitti Gritty Dirt Band, The two formed their own band and throughout the 70´s Loggins and Messina were among the decade´s biggest acts, earning two platinum and five Gold Albums. Their list of hits included Danny´s Song, Love Song, Your Mama Don´t Dance and Vahevala, among others. When they parted ways in 1976, Kenny began his career as a solo artist.
His first three solo albums, Celebrate Me Home, Nightwatch and Keep The Fire, all went platinum. Memorable hits from those albums include Celebrate Me Home, Whenever I Call You Friend, This Is It, I´m Alright and Forever.
Kenny has also won his share of awards. The hit What A Fool Believes earned Kenny a Grammy for Song of the year while This Is It brought the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal. Kenny also earned an Academy Award nomination for Top 10 hit Danger Zone from the film Top Gun. His TV special, This Island Earth, was nominated for three Emmy Awards and won two, including one for Outstanding Original Song for his original composition, This Island Earth. Kenny´s family oriented album, Return To Pooh Corner, was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Children´s Album category.
Kenny also penned a book with his wife Julia entitled, The Unimaginable Life. It chronicles the story of their love affair and all the emotions that are universal in relationships. He co-wrote and recorded the song Your Heart Will Lead You Home, which will appear in the upcoming Disney feature, The Tigger Movie, and will also be included in his new children´s recording, More Songs From Pooh´s Corner, scheduled for release this year.
Kenny continues to fight for the health and life of our planet and environment.
