AOR
A master in gathering who´s who in the west coast music world…
In 2000 , Frédéric Slama, a french songwriter who lived over 10 years in los angeles , released his 1st cd under the bandname AOR. For 15 years Frédéric was a music journalist in France and was responsible for bringing aor/ westcoast music to his native country in the late 70's through hundreds of interviews, radio shows and several thousand reviews in different magazines.
After having done a couple of solo albums and having produced some french & u.s artists , Frédéric decided to start a " one man band " !! AOR is a studio project revolving around guitarist/ keyboardist / songwriter Frédéric Slama.
In 2000 the response of the fans & the press for the 1st album " l.a concession" gave Frédéric a big respect in the westcoast/aor music scene.
In 2001 , AOR released its 2nd cd called "next stop l.a" (self-financed like the 1st one ) and again with the help of several top sessions players like Richard Page , Tony Franklin , Michael Thompson , Steve George or Carlos Vega.
It was in 2002 that Frédéric Slama and AOR took a brand new dimension thanks to the critically acclaimed self-released album "l.a reflection" which was considered by many journalists and fans as the best westcoast cd of the year.
"l.a reflection" featured top names in the music industry like Steve Lukather , Mike Porcaro , Jeff Porcaro , Steve Porcaro & David Paich (all Toto members) + a line up of stars such as Tommy Denander , Göran Edman , Michael Landau, Vinnie Colaiuta, Michael Ruff, Bruce Gaitsch, Rick Riso , & lot of others top l.a artists.
"l.a reflection" was a huge success and was co- produced by aor legend Tommy Denander (Radioactive , Prisoner etc...) And world famous l.a producer , David Diggs. The cd was re-released in 2003 by cool sound in japan with some extra bonus tracks.
Again in 2003 Fréderic Slama was back with an even greater cd which featured the best musicians of the westcoast/ melodic rock music scene. The cd was called : "dreaming of l.a" and was again co-produced by Tommy Denander and David Diggs.
But this time it featured even more stars like : bill champlin (chicago) steve overland (fm) , steve lukather (toto ) michael landau , bruce gaitsch, brandon fields & tommy denander among others and was the comeback album of 2 westcoast legends who hadn't recorded anything for over 20 years : david roberts & dane donohue ! "dreaming of l.a" was released by cool sound in japan and by aor heaven in europe (with 2 bonus tracks)
In 2004 Frédéric released "nothing but the best" featuring his 12 best songs from his 4 previous cd's fully remastered by tommy denander + 3 brand new unreleased tracks featuring fergie frederiksen (toto's former lead singer ) & dane donohue on lead vocals and produced by tommy denander !
The cd featured the talent of 40 of the biggest stars in the westcoast/aor music scene like: bill champlin ,steve lukather, michael landau ,tommy denander, göran edman, david roberts, steve overland , michael ruff , bruce gaitsch , just to name a few.
Now AOR is back with a brand new cd called "l.a attraction" featuring once again the talent of many great stars of the aor/westcoast music scene such as tommy denander, steve lukather, philip bardowell, rick riso, j.lynn johnston, dane donohue, peter friestedt, david diggs, mike landau among others. This time ,AOR developed a different musical approach and moved into a more rock - oriented direction .
"l.a attraction" sounds like a mix between Toto ,Radioactive ,Survivor & Foreigner ! Check out the great new sound of "l.a attraction" produced by Tommy Denander, which combines Westcoast & aor music to the perfection!
