Taylor Mesple

Taylor Mesple, a great artists with a musical touch for west coast music....

TAYLOR MESPLE (pronounced "Mess-Play") is the Forrest Gump of the music industry. A young prodigy and an unlikely candidate for early success, Taylor has had just about every kind of opportunity that a musician could hope for. At age 26, Taylor has already been blessed with a list of collaborations, partnerships, gigs, sessions, production jobs and accolades that would make most artists satisfied in their goals and dreams for a lifetime- and he's just begun his career as a pop artist.

Taylor has played on well over 50 records, including more than half a dozen that reached the Billboard Top 20. He has produced records that have done just as well and better on Billboard and on Radio. Taylor has earned the respect of some of the greatest and most respected figures in music- artists, sidemen and busines speople alike.

Taylor's "teachers" and mentors are buddies Russell Ferrante (Yellowjackets) and Bruce Hornsby. The cast of characters on his "Victory Land" CD include people like drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. (currently on tour with Sting), guitarist Tim Pierce (top LA studio musician) and bassist Mel Brown (currently on tour with Marc Anthony). Taylor is truly multi-talented. As a producer/engineer, his records sounds world-class. As an artist, he's called "one of my favorite artists" by multiple Grammy winner Russell Ferrante, for one.

As a keyboardist, he's a Kurzweil Keyboards artist endorsee and one of the top studio musicians in Denver, Colorado. As a vocalist, he's a trainee of world-reknown voice coach Dr. L. Scott Martin (Peter Gabriel, Kenny Loggins, Ann Wilson). As a songwriter, he's written and co-written many contest winners, for himself and other artists, often in conjunction with artists he's produced records for. As a businessperson, Taylor is the owner/president of InnerCircle Productions, Inc., which has become the most upscale production company in Colorado, commanding the highest payscale and the highest respect in the national arena by record labels and artists alike. As a guitarist, Taylor's wild open tunings on low-strung acoustics and baritone electrics are reminiscent of Michael Hedges, Joni Mitchell and Jonatha Brooke.

Taylor also plays an array of folk instruments such as Irish low whistles, penny whistles and accordion. As a philanthropist, Taylor has sat on the national board of directors for StandUpForKids, (a non-profit that rescues homeless and street kids), and has contributed music to dozens of benefit CD's and concerts. As an international citizen, Taylor has performed at the Conference on World Affairs, and has done records and concerts with musicians from El Salvador, Canada, Spain, South Africa, and of course America. As a recording artist, his music is especially popular in Sweden, Europe and Asia as well as the USA.

As a regular guy, Taylor is recently married to Rebecca Ann Mesple, who is an artist as well, with a debut CD in progress that Taylor is producing. Rebecca and Taylor live in Louisville, Colorado, USA, with Taylor's recording studio and their young Australian Shepherd/Border Collie/Blue Heeler puppy "Murphy".

In 2002 he released Victory Land, his first full-length release from producer/artist Taylor Mesple.  It features many of the best studio musicians in the world including Abe Laboriel Jr. (drummer currently on tour with Sting), Tim Pierce (guitarist for Don Henley, Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera, Toy Matinee) and Mel Brown (bassist for Marc Anthony, Brian McKnight, Gladys Knight) to name just a few. The musical and sonic sophistication of the record has garnered comparisons to the best "studio bands" around like Steely Dan, Alan Parsons and Eric Johnson.

But this is not just an electic "musician's album".  Taylor's strong vocals are reminiscent of Sting, Mr. Mister, Richard Page, Mike and the Mechanics, Eric Johnson, and Brian McKnight.  Thus, the appeal of this brand new record is winning over the "average listener" as well as the most critical audiophile ears of world-class musicians and artists.  Taylor's main musical influences for the material on this record include Jonatha Brooke, Sting, Kevin Gilbert, Richard Page, Bruce Hornsby, Peter Gabriel and Bruce Cockburn.

The record features the powerhouse "Just Begun", a tribute to Taylor's buddy Bruce Hornsby, and Bruce himself loved the tune. The CD booklet, which is 16 pages of almost magical artwork from various artists assembled into a sort of "travel journal", opens up with a foreward by Yellowjackets keyboardist Russell Ferrante, Taylor's good friend and mentor.  Throughout this record, you will see displayed the rich soil in which these songs were cultivated- and the depth and passion of Taylor Mesple's craft. Produced, Written, Arranged, Recorded and Mixed by Taylor Mesplé.
