Made in Sweden, and a fantastic voice...
He has been active in many music areas such as: rock, pop, folk, musicals and more, always dressed smoothly and a career in Sweden with many hit songs. First of all it is his fantastic voice combined with a big music talent that has made him to what he is today.
The first band he started with his friends from the town Solna was Horizont, a melodic hardrock band and they released 2 albums "Horizont" & "Andra Vyer". With this band Tommy Nilsson was discovered by a french producer that started his first solo career in France were he became a big hit and the single "No Way No How" was a mega seller. After this he came home to Sweden to continue with the rockgroup Easy Action and he had many interesting offers and even Toto wanted him as a leadsinger, but he decided that Sweden was his homebase.
In 1982 Tommy Nilsson gathered top musicians from Los Angeles to record his 2nd solo album. People like Michael Landau, Mike Baird, Mike Porcaro, Richard Page, Steve George, Steve Tavaglione, Randy Kerber and other contributed to the album, and today this is still a must have album in a westcoast collection.
His first real big hit in Sweden came in 1988. the song "Allt som jag känner" was a duet with Tone Norum and suddenly Tommy Nilsson got many great reviews from this and suddenly everybody was talking about him, and the same year he released his second album "It" and he was for the first time at the swedish top 10 and same year he toured together with Bjorn Skifs at the yearly BadRock shows.
The year after Tommy Nilsson won the swedish melodic festival with the song "En Dag" a classic popsong and after this he continued to work on his next album "Follow The Road" that was released in 1990 and gave him 2 hit singles: "Too many expectations" och "Looking throught the eyes of a child".
1994 was a music return for Tommy Nilsson. He started to work with the producer Lasse Englund that took him in another direction and they focused on pop ballads and songs with swedish language. The album "En kvinnas man" hit the streets and people loved this album, the single "Öppna din dörr" sold in 40 000 pieces and is still one of the most airplayed songs in Sweden. The follow up album "Så nära", gave him his next big hit "Dina färger var blå" and the biggest swedish brewery Pripps used this song in their commercials, so again a lot of airplay for Tommy Nilsson.
Tommy Nilsson continued the work woth Lasse Englund and in 1999 the album "Fri At Vara Har" was the result. In 2000 Tommy Nilsson hit the stage and was a part of the swedish play of the musical "Wizard of Oz". After that he took a long break.6 years after his latest release, beside two best of albums, Tommy Nillson has now released the album "Tiden före nu", a great album with strong songs. Tommy Nilsson is back, and this time you can hear that he still has the touch.
